What is the Essential Question that drives my work?
What does it mean to me to be a woman? Everything. There is no one way to be a woman or to be feminine; we cultivate our own femininity based on our experiences, relationships, and society. In my investigation I dive in to the diversity of the word "woman," and what that actually means to me, along with the universal experiences that women face everyday.
Portfolio Review (mid-year)
This year I am graduating high school. I will be attending the University of Pittsburgh to major in rehabilitation science in hopes of getting my masters in prosthetics. My theme for this investigation is femininity, where I explore what it means to be a woman. I really wanted to master working with acrylic paint in a more dynamic way, and I explored that with my paint pouring (brain matter) piece. I experimented with digital art for a few pieces, which was a bunch of fun. I really liked working on an i Ipad, but I also experimented with new expressions of line and acrylic techniques. I plan to further work on #3 and #8, as I didn’t complete them how I wanted to, and they were a bit rushed. I am going to stay with my investigation theme because I think it’s an important message and it's a lot of fun to create. My goal for the end of the 3rd marking period is to complete my portfolio!
